Award winning enterprise team ‘Are You Ready?’ and international manufacturers Gripple Ltd are inviting entrepreneurial primary pupils to take part in an exciting environmental challenge.
‘Innovating for the environment’ is the first ever primary-focussed activity launched on national education-business challenge website MyKindaCrowd.
Children have the chance to win £350 by submitting their best ideas for a product or service that would have an environmental benefit.
To support primary schools in the challenge Gripple Ltd and ‘Are You Ready?’ are hosting an event at Gripple’s head quarters in Sheffield.
The event will give pupils a chance to see the company’s innovative manufacturing works, find out more about the environmental challenge and learn first hand about the innovation methodology that Gripple Ltd use to create new products.
Gordon Macrae, Special Projects Manager at Gripple Ltd, said: “We believe that business has a key role to play in inspiring young people about the world of work and business. For children to have the chance to come to our factory, hear and see what we do and then use their creativity and enterprise to devise their own new ideas is a great opportunity.”
Catherine Brentnall, Director of ‘Are You Ready?’ said: “This is a fantastic way for primary schools to kick off their new academic year in a really enterprising way. We love what Gripple Ltd stands for – it’s a global business that is employee owned and it puts sustainability at the heart of everything it does. For them to open their doors to primary children demonstrates their commitment to helping young people develop their enterprise skills and talents.”
Two ‘Innovating for the environment’ events are taking place on Thursday September 13th at Gripple’s head quarters in Sheffield, running from 9.30am – 12pm and 1.00pm – 2.30pm.
